I’m now pain free after more than a decade of neck and lower back pain. I suggest taking a two pronged approach if the pain doesn’t go away soon. The spine doctor confirmed that my pain wasn’t due to stenosis, slipped disc, etc. The Yoga Therapist adjusted my improper form during asana and identified imbalanced muscles which were contributing to extra physical stress on lumbar.

Hi, sounds like you have inadvertently pushed too hard. This is not a medical forum. Suggest you consult your primary healthcare practitioner. Hope you find relief and are soon able to return to your journey. Namaste

I had the same thing twice since practicing yoga regularly since last year. I also find yin poses more challenging for me as I am not super flexible. I had a terrible back problem for two days after doing shoelace forward bend. I think in my case, bending forward in such poses when I can’t literally bend an inch is not beneficial so I’ll know for the next time to avoid those during the class.

There are many common yoga poses that can exacerbate conditions like slipped/herniated discs in your spine and cause more pain. Yoga in general can help strengthen and stretch your back muscles to prevent future injury but this doesn’t apply to your situation.
