NC Baseball Dilemma: Choosing the Right Team

I’m based in NC and struggling to pick a team. I’ve somewhat narrowed it down to:

  • Orioles: Connection to Charlotte via Charlotte O’s a while back. Not too far of a drive for a game. Fun, young core.
  • Mariners: Only team to have never won a WS so I can’t ever be called a bandwagon fan. Has had legends like Griffey, Ichiro, and Randy Johnson.
  • Marlins: First MLB game I ever went to.
  • Braves: People say NC is Braves territory but being a Hornets/Panthers fan it feels wrong to pull for an Atlanta based team. Not entirely opposed to it though.

Edit: 5. White Sox: Their AAA and single A affiliates are local to me, love visiting Chicago as well. Edit #2: Only team to have never been to a WS, not won Open to other suggestions as well!

Summary

  • Orioles seem to be a fan-favorite choice due to their fun gameplay and historic background.
  • Braves have a considerable following but might not sit well with fans of other local sports teams.
  • Some users advocate for the White Sox for their local affiliations and ties to Chicago.
  • Mariners and Marlins have their unique appeals, but Orioles and Braves dominate the recommendations.

Orioles: The Fan-Favorite

Many users praise the Orioles for their exciting gameplay, young core, and lack of bandwagon stigma.

Braves: Oversaturation and Divisiveness

While the Braves have a strong fan base, some users express concerns about the team’s oversaturation and conflicts with other sports loyalties.

White Sox: Local Affiliations and Chicago Ties

Users appreciate the White Sox for their local affiliations and ties to Chicago, making them a compelling option for NC-based fans.

Choosing a baseball team can be a tough decision, as evident from the diverse opinions shared on Reddit. Each team mentioned in the post has its own unique appeal, whether it’s the Orioles with their exciting gameplay, the Braves with their loyal following, or the White Sox with their local ties. Ultimately, the choice comes down to personal preference and connection to the team’s history and culture. So, whether you go with the Orioles, Braves, or another team, the most important thing is to enjoy the game and support your chosen team wholeheartedly.
