Wow, another first time winner last weekend at the Byron Nelson Championship. Brett Wetterich used a mixed bag of Titleist and Cleveland clubs including the new 588 DSG wedges en route to his first PGA Tour victory. Trevor Immelman also had another strong showing finishing in second place for the second consecutive week.

Now this is a golf tournament worth getting excited for. The unofficial fifth major, The Players Championship at the TPC of Sawgrass. This is one of the all time great golf courses and arguably the strongest field of the season.

Wow, so far it has been a very busy fall as the new product launches just keep coming along. We have already seen new clubs from Ping, TaylorMade, Nike, and Mizuno but there are still many more to come before next summer hits. Srixon Golf just keeps going. The company has announced the signing of Tim Clark. Like Tim Petrovic, Clark will play Srixon irons, a Srixon ball, and will use a Srixon bag, hat and glove.
Nike Buying Callaway Golf Rumors Wont Go Away
The Nike buying Callaway Golf rumors are still around. I talked to my Callaway source the other day and he says the company vows not to let anyone buy them. Callaway is ripe for the picking right now…. their numbers are down and so is the price of their stock.
TaylorMade Says Weir Not Going Anywhere
The Cleveland LDI is now up on www.clevelandgolf.com . The Launcher Driving Iron has been a hit with some Cleveland staff players on the PGA Tour and I will be very interested to see how the public likes it. The LDI is Cleveland’s entry into the hybrid market but it looks more like a driving iron.
Vijay To Play A Cleveland Driver
Tiger Woods used the Nike Ignite 460CC driver and Nike One Gold ball at the Tour Championship on the weekend. The combination must have worked because he was #1 in driving distance for the week (300 yards). Tiger’s good performance also put him past Ernie Els into the #2 spot in the World Rankings.
