Tour Edge Exotics XCG5 Driver Review

Exotics Driver ReviewUnlike most name-brand equipment makers, Tour Edge doesn’t pay pros to play its clubs. Yet the company maintains a decent-sized presence on the PGA Tour – and pros don’t play junk, especially not for free.

Matt Kuchar is one of the stars with a Tour Edge fairway metal in his bag. In fact, fairways are the company’s calling card. I figure if you can build a high-performance 3-metal, then it shouldn’t be too tough to craft a decent driver, right?

I recently put that theory to the test, and here’s what I found.

The Club

The model tested was the firm’s newest driver, the Tour Edge Exotics XCG5. The specs: 9° loft, 46-inch Fujikura Blur shaft, S flex, 56 grams (ultra-light). The shaft is one of three stock offerings in the lineup; the others are Graphite Design Tour AD 40 (super ultra-light) and Aldila RIP 60 Sigma (ultra-light).

Cobra AMP Driver Review

cobra-amp-driver-reviewHi everyone, thanks for stopping by.  Today we’ll be sharing with you another independent review – this time, of the brightly colored Amp driver. Enjoy!

Overview

When you sign Rickie Fowler as your marquee PGA Tour rep, it’s clear you want to make a splash. So it is with Cobra, which hopes to ride Rickie’s colorful coattails to greater market share in the ultra-competitive driver category.

Of course, it helps to have a solid product to sell, and based on a recent test, Cobra’s got a winner in its new AMP driver.

The Club

I tried out the AMP with 10.5° loft and a stock Aldila RIP shaft, 65 grams and stiff flex. Cobra’s Adjustable Flight Technology provides three face-angle settings: open, neutral, and closed. Mine was set on neutral. Note that the company offers the AMP driver in both offset and non-offset models; I tested the non-offset.

Adams 9088 UL Driver Review

Hey everyone – thanks for stopping by. I was able to test out the Adams 9088 UL driver this weekend, and took some time to pull together a review to share. I’ve been anxious to hit this new driver by Adams, and it didn’t let me down. Enjoy!

The Club:

I was hitting a 10.5 Adams UL 9088 driver with a Matrix Radix HD 4.1 stiff shaft. This new driver by Adams hides the 460 CC well, and features an ultra-light (UL) design which weighs in at a mere 290 grams. This club also features a D0 swing weight, which is quite unique among lightweight drivers.

Cleveland HiBore XLS Driver Review

Cleveland Golf’s original HiBore driver introduced us to the “scoop back” design and showed us that clubs could have a unique shape without being square. Consumers didn’t really fall in love with the original model and the company soon introduced the HiBore XL. Reaction was far different and the XL went on to be one of the most popular drivers of last year. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it… right? Wrong. Cleveland has tweaked the XL and brought us the HiBore XLS.

Bob Burns No Bananas Driver Review

The majority of golf equipment on the market today is designed to eliminate the pesky slice. Companies have resorted to closed faces, offset and moveable weights (among other things) in hopes of keeping the ball in play. The Bob Burns No Bananas driver has taken slice fighting to a whole new level and people are starting to take notice. We have had numerous emails asking about this driver so we decided to put it to the test!

UST Proforce V2 Shaft Profile

Profile – The Proforce V2 line is the perfect mix between low torque and a responsive tip. UST’s challenge with this shaft was to design a product that could keep a larger head stable without a “boardy” feel. The previous UST Proforce line – known to many as the “purple and yellow ones” were solid low torque options but many people I talked to felt they lacked feel.
