Are Bangers Ruining the Pickleball Game? Understanding the Controversy

I’ve played for about 2 months now and my current opinion is that we discourage bangers too much. Hitting the ball hard is a good thing. As a beginner I am much better at driving and when I don’t hit the ball hard it’s just an easy feed to the other team. I would be better if I could dink accurately but with my current level if i’m trying to win a game then banging is the most effective way.

The conversation kind of reminds me of pushers in tennis. Ppl complain about pushers but the thing is most ppl can’t beat pushers 🤣

Summary

  • The debate centers around the balance between power-hitting and developing softer, more nuanced skills in pickleball.
